Lewis Smith is a seasoned professional in community development and human services, with decades of experience driving meaningful change across underserved populations. His work is grounded in a deep commitment to equity, healing, and sustainable progress at both the individual and systemic levels.

Lewis holds a Master’s degree in Human Services from Lincoln University (PA), and has pursued postgraduate studies in Human Services at Bowie State University as well as Healthcare Management at the University of Phoenix. He also earned an Associate’s degree in General Studies from American University—reflecting a lifelong dedication to learning and leadership development.

Throughout his career, Lewis has obtained a wide array of professional certifications in areas such as family therapy, juvenile justice, addiction recovery, and behavioral health standards. These qualifications enable him to serve as a multidisciplinary bridge between service providers, families, and institutions working to improve mental health and social outcomes.

Whether serving on advisory boards, developing policy recommendations, or mentoring young professionals, Lewis plays an integral role in both strategic planning and on-the-ground community engagement. His leadership is defined by compassion, cultural humility, and a tireless pursuit of justice and wellness for all.

As the Director of Operation with Building Bridges Foundation, Lewis brings visionary insight and practical expertise—ensuring that programs are not only effective, but truly responsive to the needs of the people they are designed to serve.
